Ogun: Court Grants Boy Bail for Defiling Physically Challenged Girl

An Ifo  Magistrate Court Ogun State has, today, granted bail of N500,000 or two sureties with two landed properties each and be verified two years evidence of Tax clearance to 17 years old Azzez Abasi for brutally defiling physically challenged girl 20 times in four days. 

The perpetrator, of 18 Okaka Street Adiyan, was said to have committed the act between May 16 and 20 this year knowing that she was always home alone. 

After Azzez's counsel pleaded that the boy confessed to the crime, the Magistrate granted a very stringent bail condition of either 500,000 naira or two sureties with two landed properties each close to the court with payment receipt of four years as evidence of Tax clearance. 

When THISDAY spoke with the victim’s mother, Mrs. Selin Asala, after the court hearing, she expressed joy despite the many threats she had received from the perpetrator's father. 

She said: “I had to enter different buses at different areas for security reasons. But I am very happy today. The Magistrate said the case will go to High Court.” 

The Magistrate, however, warned the perpetrator never to go near the survivor's premises.

The case is adjourned to August 31 this year for further hearing.
